Forage — Privacy Policy

Forage (“we”, “the app”) helps you decide what to order for your health goals. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Plain language, no surprises.
What Forage is not
Forage provides general wellness guidance, not medical advice. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition. Always consult a qualified professional for medical decisions.
What we collect
Anonymous account. On first launch we create an anonymous account (no name, email, or phone) so your library can sync and your usage can be metered. It has a random identifier only.
Your library. Meals you save — the dish, your chosen goal, the recommendation and its estimated macros, an optional restaurant and location label you can edit, your notes and favorites, and the photo you analyzed. Stored on your device and, when signed in, backed up to our hosting provider (Supabase) under your anonymous account.
Images you analyze. Sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate a recommendation. We do not use your images to train models.
Usage counts. The number of analyses you run each month, to enforce free/paid limits.
Anonymous usage events. Basic in-app events (e.g. app opened, scan started/finished, meal saved, paywall shown, purchase completed) tied to your anonymous account, so we can understand and improve the product. No names, contacts, photos, or message contents — just event names and small labels like which goal was active. Stored first-party in our own backend (Supabase); no third-party analytics or ad SDKs.
We do not collect contacts, precise GPS location, advertising identifiers, or browsing history. We do not run third-party ad or tracking SDKs.
How your data is processed
Anthropic (Claude API): The image/text/link you analyze plus your goal are sent to Anthropic to produce a recommendation, via our backend. See Anthropic’s privacy terms.
Supabase: Hosts your anonymous account, synced library, and usage counters.
Apple: Subscriptions are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. If you enable it, estimated meal nutrition is written to Apple Health on your device (never sent to us).
Your choices
Delete everything. Settings → Delete account & data removes your synced library, custom goals, and usage records, wipes the local copy, and signs you out. This is irreversible.
Cloud backup only happens while signed in to the anonymous account.
Apple Health logging is off by default and opt-in.
Data retention
Saved data persists until you delete it (per above) or stop using the app. Analyses are processed transiently and not retained beyond your saved library.
Children
Forage is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
